Point-Of-Care Testing

Point-οf-Care (POC) testing is defined as medical diagnostic testing at or near the time and place of patient care. This offers the advantage of knowing critical information regarding the health of the patient, eliminating the need for a central medical laboratory, and sending off specimens. With POC testing, treating therapist should not wait for hours or even days to learn the results, during which time medical treatment must continue without the desired information.
